“Crave You” – Flight Facilities (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix)

Why can’t you want me like the other boys do

They stare at me while I stare at you

Ah, the dubstep remix.  Alternately raising songs to glorious new heights or rendering them entirely unlistenable.  In this case, it works and is much more beautifully complex than the original.

I discovered this recently on my Tegan & Sara Pandora station, which, by the way, I am thumb-upping and thumb-downing into quite possibly the best Pandora station ever.  I don’t know how I’ve ended up with dubstup on it, but I have.  And it is good.

I’ll post the original below for comparison, which I didn’t seek out until I had already listened to the remix several times.  Never mind the fact that the video for the original is far too twee… I very possibly would’ve been sufficiently content with it had I not heard the remix first.

I have been in this very situation on several occasions.  I’ve walked into the room dripping (in gold) only to find that every last man is on board with the singular exception of the man whom I had in mind when I draped myself in gold in the first place.  And when that happens, the last thing my tipsy heart wants is a ditty with a jazzy pop sensibility.  My tipsy heart wants this remix.

In summary: YES.  I’ll be looking into more Adventure Club.

Here’s the original.  I’ll let you decide.

  1. Post-apocalyptic Portisthead meets Bjork with a dash of Mazzy Star? I’ll take it!

  2. I crave more starcollecteur! So true by the way — dubstep is feast or famine. Mostly famine, but when like it does here the sound is a cherry dripping in chocolate gold.

  3. I read a lot of interesting posts here. Probably you spend a lot of
