“Flagpole Sitta” – Harvey Danger

Happy 2013!  This is my first post of the new year.  As we look to the future, let’s start things off with the smooth sounds of this optimistic ode…from the past!

I was all about this song when it came out in 1998.  Tongue piercings!  Exciting and dangerous and oh so au courant.  The very essence of this song appealed to me.  “I’m not sick but I’m not well.”  That sums up the bulk of the adolescent experience quite succinctly.  This songs lets you rant and jump around and ultimately have a wonderful time, even if the world is falling apart all around.

I still enjoy this one greatly.  And it’s stuck in my head now and will be for the remainder of the evening.  Late ’90s alt-rock is my New Year gift to you.

In summary: Did you always assume that the lead singer was Harvey Danger?  I did.  It’s the Blondie syndrome.
